| Job Duties: | This position reports to the Executive Director/Project Manager and Senior Sakman Leader. It is a part-time position that requires Chamorro and Carolinian cultural knowledge, hands-on workshop experience and a demonstrated long-term interest in traditional maritime practices. The Sakman Leader: •Provides assistance to the Project Director and Senior Sakman Leader in the execution of his/her responsibilities •Assists with the preparation and opening of the canoe house •Assists developing detailed build plans and blueprints of traditional canoes •Assits with provisioning of tools and materials for proa construction •Complies with inventory tracking system •Follow workplace safety guidelines •Assists with year-end program evaluation plan •Other duties as assigned |

| Qualification Requirements: | 500 Sails is a cultural restoration project to bring back the indigenous sailing traditions of the Marianas islands, both Chamorro and Carolinian. -You must be passionate about the mission and love the water. -You must have experience working with your hands. -You must be comfortable teaching others and engaging with the community. -You must be reliable. -If you don't know how to swim, you need to be willing to learn, and possibly teach. - It helps if you have a sense of humor. |
