| Job Duties: | Advises the School President, Principal and Board of Directors of private school (kindergarten to twelfth grade) on short-term and long-term financial objectives, financial planning, and preparing the school's annual budget (15% of time). Prepares or oversees the preparation by the accountant of income statements, balance sheets, business activity reports, and cash management reports; prepares financial position forecasts and monthly reports on the status of the collection of tuition and fees; provides fiscal and business management advice for the effective financial management of the school; and examines and evaluates the school's financial controls to ensure system reliability and minimization of risk/exposure (30% of time). Supervises the school's daily accounting operations by the accountant and accounting clerk in order to assure professional adequacy for all accounting operations; resolves or oversees the resolution of any accounting discrepancies; oversees the school’s tuition management system and assists, as needed, in the collection of delinquent tuition; oversees preparation of school's payroll and payroll taxes; and coordinates with the outside auditing firm in the preparation of the school’s annual income tax returns and audit report (25% of time). Oversees procure of curriculum and instructional materials and assessment resources; attends, participates and assists in faculty meetings and professional development meetings; and meets with members of the community and government officials, as needed, to support the school's mission (10% of time). Ensures compliance with financial reporting and other regulatory requirements; oversees school property and liability insurance requirements; conducts audits of transactions related to contracts, purchase orders, and other financial transactions to ensure adequate documentation and substantiation prior to settlement; manages lease and rental agreements for use of school facilities and acts as a liaison to the local government agencies in obtaining required permits and licenses; provides advice to School President, Principal and Board of Directors on financial investments of any surplus funds; and reviews terms for financial investments, loans and other transactions (20% of time). |
