Job Title: Assistant Manager of Wine Sommelier
Job Duties: • Compile the wine list, buy and store the wines, and restock the cellar. • Taste all purchased wines to ensure their quality. • Responsible for promoting and maximizing beverage sales and controls the wine service in the restaurants according to the schedule. • Interact with internal staff and external guests from Asian and international countries. • Practice wine and food matching according to the characteristics of wines and dishes. • Coordinate with restaurants and Food & Beverage Outlets to develop wine lists that match menus and promotions. • Serve wines according to five-star best practice. • Share your passion for wine and pass on your knowledge of regions, grapes, vineyards and vintages. • Recommend wine and food pairings. • Educate Food & Beverage staff about different wines and how to serve them. • Write and implement standard operating procedures and learning guides about wine. • Constantly assess wine and beverage service standards and arrange refresher training to improve team members’ competency levels. • Maintain effective communication with all Food & Beverage Team Members by providing written and verbal translations. • Monitor industry and market trends and recommend adjustments to menus and pricing accordingly. • Suggest creative ideas to executive management to enhance the resort’s image and wine offering. • Interact with department and company team members, management, and contractors professionally and positively. • Attend department and inter-department meetings and share relevant information. • Encourage good relationships, promote team spirit, and ensure effective two-way and multicultural communications. • Adhere to the company policies and procedures and comply with the Code of Conduct. • Remain well-mannered and well-groomed as per department and company standards. • Follow health and safety standards and strive for constant improvement to avoid health and injury hazards. • Participate in the company recycling program and follow a strict discipline to reduce, re-use and recycle wherever possible. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
