| Job Title: | Power Plant Electrician |
| Job Duties: | Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment, such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, or test lamps. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Adjust controls to generate specified electrical power or to regulate the flow of power between generating stations and substations. See more occupations related to this task. Control generator output to match the phase, frequency, or voltage of electricity supplied to panels. See more occupations related to this task. Control or maintain auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, feedwater heaters, filters, or chlorinators, to supply water, fuel, lubricants, air, or auxiliary power. Primary duty: Operates and maintains power plant machinery and systems. Familiar with power plant switch gear and power panels. Makes inspection rounds, monitoring operation of equipment/systems facility to ensure uninterrupted power to transmitters and associated equipment. Maintains records of tasks and inspections. Provide electrical maintenance support to both REKTS sites (Tinian and Saipan) as required. Secondary duty: Assist facility and ground maintenance as needed (painting, brush cutting, and so on). Additional duties: Perform additional duties as directed by the Transmitter Supervisor, or Site Manager. Experience: One year work experience in performing tasks under general supervision. |
