| Job Duties: | Under the general supervision of the Manager and Physician, Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention and Control Program, the incumbent is responsible in ensuring that TB treatment regimens are followed and medications are appropriately administered to effectively reach the goal of TB elimination. The incumbent shall provide comprehensive nursing services in preventive health in the TB chest clinic including screening, assessments, diagnosis, treatment, teachings, counseling, monitoring, and evaluating individuals with active cases and ensure effective contact investigations are conducted immediately. Additionally, the incumbent, under the supervision of the Human Resources (HR) Manager, shall also be responsible for all CHCC’s employee health screening, assessments and clearance prior to the start of employment; following up on employee illnesses and injuries; and, promoting a safe work environment. Identify, screen, assess, diagnose, evaluate, counsel, treat, educate and monitor individuals with active cases or exposed to a person with TB in accordance with Clinic protocols and standards of practice. Ensure that all TB and Hansen’s patients takes their medication through direct observed therapy (DOT) for the full duration of treatment either in the TB Clinic or out on the field. Ensure that patients understand their diagnosis and are made aware of their responsibilities eliminating the spread of infection. Maintain contact with all TB patients throughout their treatment (6-9 or even 12 months treatment). Performs skin test as screening TB and surveillance and interpret results. Follows protocols on lab collection (blood and sputum) and reports abnormal labs to TB Physician for appropriate referrals. Enter patient data into Electronic Health Record (EHR) data base. Interview patient and perform vital signs. Screening/assessment patients and enter in EHR system then nursing documentation or notes. Document all active cases in the Chest Clinic Charts and collect, collate and enter data relating to cases of TB into the clinic database. Maintain optimum standard of Nursing Care by providing patient safety and privacy. Notify and update TB physician of an urgent referral for protocol procedures. Carry out Physician’s order. Arrange follow-up visit and perform routine care protocol in place. Assist in identifying TB Program needs to plan effective strategies and implement change. Understand and interpret public health laws and regulations as they pertain to tuberculosis control activities. Conduct new hire screenings and annual employee health screenings to include health history, immunizations update, and brief physical assessment. Refer employees with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to appropriate resources. Offer health promotion incentives and educational materials. Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure completion of all health screenings. Conduct surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases. Plan, implement and conduct required immunizations: Hepatitis A, B, MMR, TDAP/TD, PPD yearly requirement in accordance with Clinic protocol. Plan, implement and conduct annual Flu Vaccine Program. Plan and implement other vaccine program as directed by Public Health, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies, to include Tetanus and MMR. Coordinate Annual Health Screening with individual unit managers. Review PEP/needle stick log and update any required forms. Conduct TB screening for all new employees, all other employees, and volunteers according to the Hospital TB control plan and/or at least annually. Conduct follow-up skin testing for all employee TB exposures. Trend employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues and assist injured employee. Plan, implement and conduct annual TB and blood borne pathogen training to employees in required departments. Provide education on an as needed basis regarding hand washing and isolation practices. Strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. Function within the RN scope of practice. Demonstrates awareness of an adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety. Maintain employee health records. Maintain summaries and written reports required for employee illness/injury reporting. Participate as an active member of the Infection Control Committee and on hospital-wide committees at the request of executive level management. Assist with the compilation of data and computer input for CHCC'S Surgical Surveillance Database and the CHCC MRSA database. Provide concise data and tracking of all exposures. Conduct new employee orientation in Infection Control/Employee Health as needed. Provide initial assessment of employee injuries and assures the proper referrals are made with Workers Compensation physician practice. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. |

| Qualification Requirements: | Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized/accredited school of Nursing. Must pass NCLEX-RN and must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Commonwealth Board of Nurse Examiners (CBNE) to practice the profession of nursing in the CNMI. BLS/ACLS Certified. Five years of experience in general nursing, two years of which in TB clinic area. Knowledge and skills in the management of patients with TB/Hansen’s diseases. Takes responsibility for his/her own professional conduct and growth. |
