| Job Duties: | Duties: Operates drilling machine to drill soil boring and wells to 50 feet deep and take subsurface soil/rock samples or cores for analysis of strata. Starts and controls drilling action and lowering of drill pipes into borehole. Withdraws drill pipe from hole and extracts soil/rock sample. Couples additional lengths of drill pipe as drill bit advances and changes drill bit as needed. Records drilling progress and geological data and assists in performing laboratory and field testing. Maintains and diagnoses drill rigs for repairs. |
