Job Duties: | Job Summary: The IP Network Engineer works for and under the general direction of the Sr. Network Engineer, Network Engineering & Operations. Responsibilities include planning and designing a secured, expandable, robust, resilient and cost-effective IP network infrastructure for terrestrial, submarine cable and wireless network; Provides support to Sales and Marketing group on enterprise network solutions; Troubleshooting, installing, implementing and administering IP network systems such as Routers, Switches, Firewall, DSLAM, and provide higher level Tier support. Also analyzes capacity issues and develops capacity planning models. Responsible for ensuring planned testing activities are executed and for developing network security guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Employee will: 1. Conduct short and long-term planning to meet IP network requirements. 2. Design and implement expandable, reliable and cost-effective IP network systems. 3. Analyze IP network activity, stats (KPI) and IP network problems, recommend IP network design changes/enhancements for improved systems availability and performance. 4. Develop capacity planning models. 5. Assess network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provide network planning recommendations to management. 6. Ensure that expenses are in accordance with the approved capital and operations budgets. 7. Recommend system upgrades to meet forecasted market demands. 8. Evaluate services provided by vendors and recommends changes. 9. Cross-train other engineering and technical staff in various aspects of this position to prepare them to fill in as needed and for possible succession. 10. Keep engineering records up-to-date. 11. Assist other engineers and in their areas of responsibility, as needed. 12. Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or required.
