Job Title: PHYSICAL THERAPY MANAGER
Job Duties: Under the general supervision of the Hospital Administrator, the employee shall be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and administering all activities within the hospital physical therapy department consistent with hospital policies, applicable local and federal laws and regulations, and accepted standards of practice. Work involves direct patient care and the determination of the extent and nature of physical therapy services needed, implementing these services, developing and supervising of in-service training programs for subordinate staff; ensuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements; and effective and efficient physical therapy services. This position is a blend of management and patient care. Plan, develop, coordinate and supervise all activities within the hospital physical therapy department. Plan, develop and supervise in-service training programs for physical therapists, physical therapy technicians, physical therapy assistants, nursing and other personnel in areas pertaining to physical therapy. Secure data to assist in the identification of needs and resources available to implementing physical therapy aspects of total patient care programs. Consult with other professional personnel in in-patient and out-patient clinics, clinical and staff conference and interpret changes in policy to subordinate staff members. Develop reporting procedures and forms for use within the department and for relaying pertinent physical therapy data to medical, nursing and other professional personnel and ensure that all services orders are documented in the patient's medical record in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements. Coordinate holding inter-departmental meetings. Manage departmental recruiting, promotions, disciplinary problems, evaluations, and other employee relations problems. Ensure that evidence-based practice guidelines is used to treat patients and utilize clinical outcomes to assess and improve treatment interventions and programs. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulatory requirements, including Standards of Practice for Physical Therapy for all services provided by the Physical Therapy Department. Adopt, revise and update policies, procedures and practices that ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice for physical therapy. Plan, prepare, or carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients. Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention. Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Identify and document goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation. Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enter information into computer. Obtain patients' informed consent to proposed interventions. Test and measure patient's strength, motor development and function, sensory perception, functional capacity, or respiratory or circulatory efficiency and record data. Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine a PT impression prior to intervention. Discharge patient from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals. Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home. Participates in discharge planning conferences with nursing personnel, patients and families. Attend committee meetings as assigned by the Medical Director and the Hospital Administrator. Prepare and administer the fiscal year budget for the department. Perform other duties as required or as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an approved college of physical therapy program or its equivalent. Five years work experience as a physical therapist. Prior physical therapy management experience in a hospital setting preferred. Licensed to practice physical therapy in at least one U.S. state and the CNMI or be eligible for licensure in the CNMI before the start date of employment. Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to manage productivity with minimal direction. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Physical Requirements: Good visual acuity and ability to communicate. Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 20 pounds of rehabilitative supplies and equipment and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements.
