| Job Duties: | Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants and laboratories: Assembles and tests motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, solenoids, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles. Modifies electrical components to correct functional deviations under direction of the Electrical Engineer &/or Plant Manager. Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance. Develops wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specification for systems or equipment modifications or expansions and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties. Plans, directs, and records periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards. Operates generators and auxiliary equipment at generating plant to produce electricity; Monitors control board and regulates equipment according to procedures and information obtained from recording and indicating instruments. Monitors gauges to determine effect of generator load on related equipment such as bars and voltage regulators. Adjusts transformer controls to regulate flow of power between generating stations and substations. Operates switchgear to regulate and transfer power loads to protect maintenance workers engaged in repairing or cleaning equipment. Records malfunction of equipment, instruments or controls on log sheet. Identify, promotes and provide assistance in the required internal/external training needs for plant personnel. Follows all safety measures and procedures while conducting any and all of the above evolutions. |
