| Job Duties: | · Participates in Program Review and Outcomes Assessment (PROA) activities. · Identify and diagnose plant disease/disorders in the CNMI, using appropriate field, nursery, and/or laboratory technology. · Establish research and extension program priorities based on stakeholder input and needs assessment. · Prepare grant proposals. · Develop and implement a 5 Year Plan of Work based on USDA-CSREES National goals and stakeholder input. · Develop and implement a yearly Work Plan · Manage the daily operations of the Plant Diagnostic/Research Laboratory · Participate in the CREES Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program; help plan the IPM extension program, prepare grant proposals; manage ongoing IPM activities and projects. · Document, identify, and hold in permanent collection the existing plant pathogens in the CNMI and their possible natural biocontrols. · Establish and develop collaborative linkages with the public, other agriculture professionals, nongovernmental organizations, colleges, universities, and sister governmental agencies addressing plant disease/disorder concerns on a local, regional, and/or national basis. · Provide information and research results in periodic published reports to the clientele and in refereed professional journals. · Conduct workshops, training, and certification programs relevant to discipline of expertise. · Perform other duties as assigned |

| Qualification Requirements: | Minimum Qualifications: A Master’s degree from a U.S.-accredited institution in Plant Pathology, Mycology, Plant Health, or a closely related discipline plus five (5) years of intensive laboratory and/or field diagnostic and research experience. Specific experience in plant disease diagnosis and management, plus an established scholarly record of research and publication is necessary. Desirable Qualifications: Evidence of positive team interaction; Ability to adapt successfully in a multi-cultural/multi-ethnic community; Experience in international or tropical setting; Potential for successful grant writing. |
