Job Title: | Hemodialysis Technician |
Job Duties: | Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment for patients. Prepare the patient station and hemodialysis machines, dialysers, appropriate linens and dialysate bath, as prescribed. Recognize and correct problems involving dialyzer leaks or defects in arterial or venous lines. Stocks all areas with needed supplies. Obtain and record patient weights on the dialysis treatment flow-sheet records, pre and post dialysis. Initiate and terminate hemodialysis treatment according to policy and procedure. Obtain and record periodic clotting times during treatments when applicable. Report any adverse symptoms or reactions to treatments. Respond to alarms and make appropriate adjustments during treatments. Monitor and record vital signs according to policy. Assist in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Employ universal precautions. Monitor the infusion of heparin via heparin pump. Clean and disinfect equipment following procedures as assigned, and perform disinfection of equipment. Use proper techniques when using equipment. Assist in the transportation of patients. Perform other related as assigned. |
