| Job Title: | Heavy Equipment Mechanic |
| Job Duties: | Performs a variety of activities designed to service, repair and maintain pieces of state-owned heavy equipment. Repair and replace damaged or worn parts. Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools. Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles. Record details of repairs made and parts used. Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessary. Maintain, repair, and overhaul machinery and vehicles, such as tractors and irrigation systems. Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with others to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. |

| Qualification Requirements: | High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferably some to one (1) year of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Expertise on heavy equipment maintenance. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. Must be highly dependable, able to work outdoors (exposed to nature’s elements for extended periods of time), lift at least 50 lbs, work early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Must have knowledge/skills in the following: Repairing, Troubleshooting, Equipment Maintenance, Operation Monitoring, Operation and Control. |
