Job Title: Soils/Materials Technician
Job Duties: Reviews requirements of new projects and prepares estimates for clients based on the project requirements, scope of site and subsurface explorations requirements. Logs subsurface soils and rocks in test borings for engineering purposes. Visits project sites and evaluate surface and probable subsurface soil and rock conditions, and other data. Performs laboratory and field testing on soils, concrete, aggregates, and bituminous mixtures. Performs tests for design mix for concrete and bituminous mixes Summarizes and prepares reports of the laboratory and field-testing data. Uses Excel software program in performing job duties. Travels to Employer's project sites in all villages in the MSA of Saipan, NMI; MSA of Rota, NMI 2 to 4 times per year for 1 to 3 days; and MSA of Tinian, NMI 4 to 8 times per year for 1 to 2 days.

Qualification Requirements: Associate’s degree in Engineering (may be foreign equivalent and any engineering major), 24 months of experience as a Soils/Materials Technician or Assistant Materials Supervisor, and 6 months experience using Excel software program or other spreadsheet software program. Verification of qualifications required.

Comments: The job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position commencing on October 1, 2020 and ending on September 30, 2023. The job opportunity requires the worker to travel, in an Employer provided vehicle, to Employer's project sites in all villages in the MSA of Saipan. Worker may be required to travel, at the Employer’s expense, to Employer’s project sites in the MSA of Rota, NMI 2-4 times per year for 1-3 days; and to Employer’s project sites in the MSA of Tinian, NMI 4-8 times per year for 1-2 days. Workdays will be Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Worker will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the Employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker's transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the Employer will provide or pay for the worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another Employer or where the Employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
