Job Title: | Laboratory Analyst |
Job Duties: | • Performs laboratory testing and analysis of water and wastewater samples in accordance with Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality (BECQ) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. • Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment; prepares solutions, standards and media for chemical and microbiological testing. • Maintains live bacteria cultures; determines volumes and degree of dilution of samples. • Performs and ensures all laboratory testing meets established quality controls and standards criteria. • Prepares and cleans glassware for testing ensuring sterilization standards are maintained. • Prepares and enters data in system and reports; identify and report atypical results. • Maintain laboratory logs, records and files including records of quality control functions. • Maintain data and reporting in accordance with BECQ and EPA requirements. • Identify and troubleshoot issues; make recommendations to resolve issues; review procedures and recommend changes or updates as required. • Orders and maintains inventory of supplies, parts, and equipment; provide specifications and recommendations for replenishment or replacement of supplies and equipment. • Collects field samples including well, safe drinking water, and wastewater samples; determines and gathers appropriate sample containers. • Ensures validity of samples collected including sample holding time and temperature ranges. • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. |

Qualification Requirements: | Bachelor’s Degree in physical science, chemistry, biology, or other related science with at least two (2) years of experience in an environmental, microbiology, or chemistry laboratory is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties may be acceptable. |
