Job Title: Scuba Diving Division Supervisor; Scuba Diving Instructor (SOC Code: 11-1021))
Job Duties: Oversee daily operations of the company’s dive shop, Divers Supply, in Chalan Laulau, based on decisions made by company’s Officers and General Manager, and supervise other scuba diving instructors and shop staffs, both at the dive shop and on site at company’s diving service facility in Managaha Island, to give the best and safest diving services to customers. Maintain a safe working environment, review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly. Collaborate with workers and managers to solve work-related problems. Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads. Prepare and maintain work records and reports of information such as employee time and wages, daily receipts, or inspection results. Inspect equipment for wear and for conformance to specifications. Conduct staff meetings to relay general information or to address specific topics. Evaluate employee performance and prepare evaluation reports. Assess training needs of staff and arrange for or provide appropriate instruction. Resolve personnel problems and complaints, or refer them to higher-level supervisors for resolution. Recommend personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures. Participate in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, or making hiring decisions or recommendations. Inspect job sites to determine the extent of maintenance or repairs needed. Perform the same work duties as those supervised or perform more difficult or skilled tasks or assist in their performance. Conduct inventories for retail goods, supplies and requisition or purchase additional items, as necessary. Counsel employees in work-related activities, personal growth, or career development. Quote prices to customers. Provide assistance in balancing books, tracking, monitoring, or projecting a unit's budget needs and in developing unit policies and procedures. Teach, instruct, and guide scuba diving activities to individuals or groups at public or private facilities. Explain and demonstrate the basics of scuba diving and teach proper use of diving gears and equipments. Conduct certification classes explaining techniques, principles and methods of regulating movement of body to achieve proficiency in diving. Issue certifications to customers that successfully completed the certification classes of various diving levels. May assist customers purchasing scuba diving & outdoor sports goods at both the Divers Supply and the retail shop run by company at its headquarter. May update company’s official website and instructor’s blog in Japanese. Accommodate company’s customers and vendors in Japanese. Do other related duties.
High School Diploma Required? Yes
Qualification Requirements: Minimum 2 years of experience as a scuba diving instructor in Saipan; Must be a PADI or NAUI certified, licensed scuba diving instructor. Must be knowledgeable in diving spots in Saipan and other major islands of Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (i.e. Tinian, Rota). Must be able to speak, read and write Japanese, enough to teach and instruct scuba diving to tourists and regulars from Japan which dominates the nationality of company's customers, and for better communications with company's executives and other employees.

Fringe Benefits: Compensations: Workers’ Compensation provided. Health insurance and 14 days of paid leave (yearly; not to be carried over) provided. Three-Fourths Guarantee: Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. Transportation and Subsistence Provided: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker’s transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
