Job Duties: | Performs survey, plans, designs, and installations of fiber optic cables. Terminates, splices, and installs fiber optic connectors and enclosures. Utilizes applicable electronic equipment, specialty tools, fiber tools, and fiber optic test equipment, including fusion splicer, power meter, and OTDR. Troubleshoots damaged fiber, inspects telecommunications equipment, and identifies problems. Assembles and installs data and telephone communication lines, wiring, switching equipment, wiring frames, power apparatus, computer systems, networks, and related communication equipment. Ability to read, understand, and update splice documentation and maps. Climbs poles and ladders, uses truck-mounted booms, and enters areas such as manholes and cable vaults to install, maintain, or inspect equipment. Performs aerial construction activities, including, but not limited to, aerial fiber, installing fiber storage, and performing clean-up work. Tests repaired, newly installed, or updated equipment to ensure that it functions properly and conforms to specifications, using test equipment and observation. Performs Service Aggregation Router (SAR) Demarcation. Gathers information about work conditions or locations and collaborates with other workers to locate and correct malfunctions. Must be able to operate a Fusion Splicer, Stealth Sweep System, MPEG Analyzer, and Spectrum Analyzer. Must be able to test fiber strands with an OTDR and other fiber test equipment and must be able to perform troubleshooting of the Headend. Must possess knowledge of PathTrak Return Path Monitoring System. Observes all OSHA, NEC, and company safety rules and procedures. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Uses Fusion Splicer, Stealth Sweep System, MPEG Analyzer, and Spectrum Analyzer in performing job duties. Travels to all villages in the MSA of Saipan, NMI to provide services for Employer's customers and may travel six times a year to either MSA of Rota, NMI or MSA of Tinian, NMI for one week or less to perform work for the Employer as a Fiber Technician in providing service for its customers. |

Comments: | The job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position commencing on October 1, 2021 and ending on September 30, 2024. The job opportunity requires that the worker travel, in an Employer provided vehicle, to Employer's customers in all villages in the MSA of Saipan and may be required to travel, at Employer’s expense, six times a year to either MSA of Rota, NMI or MSA of Tinian, NMI for one week or less to perform work for the Employer as a Fiber Technician in providing service for its customers. Workdays will be Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the workers at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE: If the workers complete 50% of the work contract period, the Employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the workers’ transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the workers are dismissed earlier, the Employer will provide or pay for the workers’ reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the workers originally departed to work, except where the workers will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the Employer has appropriately reported a workers’ voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
