Job Title: CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Job Duties: Apply theory and principles of civil engineering in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities under the direction of engineering staff or physical scientists. Tasks include: calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities using calculator or computer; read and review project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements; draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and to ensure conformance to specifications; confer with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions; analyze proposed site factors and design maps, graphs, tracings, and diagrams to illustrate findings. Prepare reports and document project activities and data; report maintenance problems occurring at project site to supervisor and negotiate changes to resolve system conflicts; inspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect design malfunctions and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes; conduct materials test and analysis using tools and equipment and applying engineering knowledge; develop plans and estimate costs for installation of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures; develop project budgets by estimating the cost of project activities; evaluate facility to determine suitability for occupancy and square footage availability and negotiate prices for new contracts or for modifications to existing contracts with contractors.

Qualification Requirements: 24 months of experience as a Civil Engineering Technician is required. Associate’s degree is required. Proficient of FHWA/AASHTO/FAA/EPA/NFPA/ASTM 3; AutoCad, AutoCad Civil 3D; Bluebeam Revu; Storm and Sanitary Analysts (SSA) Software; MS Projects; and Prolog Manager and Converge is required. Familiarity with Carlson Civil Suite is preferred. Certification in Procore Admin, Project Management, Engineer, Quality and Safety, and Financial Management is preferred.

Comments: HOFSCHNEIDER ENGINEERING CORPORATION is looking to fill two (2) CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN position in Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Work will be performed only at 2nd floor, JET Building, Middle Road, Gualo Rai in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. This is a TEMPORARY, full-time position and we are looking to fill these job openings for employment from 10/01/2021 to 09/30/2022. Terms & Conditions of Employment: Workers will be paid no less than $17.25 per hour. Overtime will be paid at a rate of 1.5 times base hourly rate. The employer will offer 35 hours of work per week, depending on weather conditions. Work on weekends may be required. Hourly work schedule is 9:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Transportation: The employer will not provide daily transportation to and from the worksite locations in Saipan. If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Board, Lodging, or Other Facilities: The employer will not provide board, lodging, or other facilities. Tools Equipment & Supplies: The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. Three-Fourths Guarantee: The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. Miscellaneous: The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly by check. The employer will make all the payroll deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by federal and local law and will not make any deductions which are not required by law. The employer will not provide on-the-job training.
