Job Title: Accountant
Job Duties: Responsible for the accounting operations of the Parishes. The job involves data entry to compute, classify and record numerical data to keep financial records complete for each of the thirteen (13) parishes in the Diocese. Operate computer programmed with accounting software; to record, store and analyze information to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. Comply statistical, financial accounting reports pertaining to cash receipts, expenses, disbursements, receivable and profit and losses. 2. Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. 3. Submit financial reports to the Pastor/Parish Administrator, Parish Finance Council and Diocesan Finance Officer. 4. Assist the Parish Finance Council in the preparation of annual budget of the parishes for submission and approval by the Bishop. 5. Perform daily bank deposits for Diocese of Chalan Kanoa and Mt. Carmel Cathedral Parish. Record all collections and daily receipts of the parishes. 6. Perform bank reconciliation s of each thirteen (13) parishes on a monthly basis. 7. Process request for payment after verifying documentation and approval. 8. Reconcile financial discrepancies by collection and analyzing account information. 9. Monitor cash position of the parishes. 10. Ensure proper safekeeping, custody, control and disposition of assets. 11. Address financial inquiries of the parishes. 12. Perform other duties and responsibilities of similar nature as instructed by the Diocesan Finance Officer.
High School Diploma Required? Yes
Qualification Requirements: Bachelor degree in Accounting .Mininum of five (5) years of accounting experience with strong background in bookkeeping .Knowledgeable in Quickbooks accounting software and MS Office applications particularly on Excel, Word and PowerPoint .Understand, respect, and support Catholic Church teaching, mission and values .Good attention to detail and accuracy .Good reasoning ability regarding accounting transactions .Ability to correctly interpret and analyze financial information .Good organizational and problem solving skills with ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines .Strong interpersonal skills for working with and presenting information to pastors, administrators and finance councils .Professional written and verbal communication skills .Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily .Able to travel to all parishes in the diocese .Able to observe parish cash counts and other finance related processes or attend finance council meetings on some evenings.
