Job Duties: | For this position of kindergarten school teacher, the individual will teach academic and social skills to kindergarten students. Specifically, the individual will: establish and enforce rules for behavior and policies and procedures to maintain order among students; prepare children for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks; instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and interests; teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills; demonstrate activities to children; modify teaching methods or materials to accommodate student needs; teach self-help and life skills; apply multiple teaching methods; communicate and meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children; supervise his/her teacher assistant; support the Catholic identity of the school by attending religious functions; begin each class period with a prayer; teach in harmony with the philosophy and Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLR) and in conformity with the rules and regulation stated in the school handbook; attend and participate in parent/teacher organization meetings; attend and participate in meetings and professional development programs; and perform other duties as assigned (supervision, mentoring/coaching, extra curricular advising, etc.). |

Qualification Requirements: | Graduation from an accredited college or university with Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood education, or related field. Additional Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including giving and receiving feedback; awareness of and sensitivity to cultural issues and local community practices; awareness of best practices to meet the needs of individual learners; ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team; knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups; knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability/personality/interests, and learning and motivation. |
