Job Title: Painter
Job Duties: Operate or tend painting machines to paint surfaces of transportation equipment, such as boats and marine vessels. Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner. Select paint according to company requirements, and match colors of paint following specified color or marine vessel’s original color. Stir and thin the paints, using spatulas or power mixing equipment. Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from vehicle surfaces in preparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters. Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and paint mixes for proper paint flow and coating thickness. Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes. Sand surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties. Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and decorative or finish coatings. Remove accessories and mask surfaces with tape or paper in order to protect them from paint. Performs work on customer’s vessels in the commercial Port of Saipan, NMI.

Qualification Requirements: High school diploma (may be foreign equivalent), 12 months of experience as a painter in shipyard environment. Verification of qualifications required. Required to take and pass a substance abuse test after hire.

Comments: The job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position starting on October 1, 2021 and ending on September 30, 2022. Workdays will be Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Employer will provide the worker with daily transportation to and from the worker's residence to work site. Housing is optional. At the worker's option, the Employer will provide free housing to the worker consisting of a shared bedroom and shared bathroom. No deduction will be made from the worker's pay for the housing. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Workers will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the workers at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE: If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the Employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker’s transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the Employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the workers originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the Employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved.
