Job Title: Fiber Optic Cable Splicer (Temporary Full Time)
Job Duties: Job Summary: The Fiber Optic Cable Splicer, under the direct supervision of the Plant Technical Services Supervisor, installs and splices copper and fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings, reads, creates and maintains splicing schematics and diagrams, maintains control of Outside Plant activities surrounding the assigned worksite(s), takes and maintains accurate splicing and field notes, supports project timelines, and inspects, designs, and provides accurate staking sheets for projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Employee will perform the following essential functions: 1. Perform fiber optic cable installation, construction, maintenance, and repair works. 2. Splice copper and fiber optic cables; able to place a mid-sheath splice; prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics, and diagrams. 3. Work with Construction PM and/or OSP Engineers to perform splicing as directed; provide the OSP Engineers with detailed reports of field splicing activity. 4. Test and troubleshoot fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope. 5. Perform routine maintenance; recognize and repair route issues, including hand-hole cleanup; place and test jumpers in communication cabinets. 6. Locate and repair cable faults to prevent signal failure interruptions. 7. Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the cable network. 8. Confirm accurate cable termination on cross connect, patch panels, hubs, and routers. 9. Maintains storeroom for splicing and test equipment. 10. Perform work in accordance with industry standards; conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc. 11. Provide on-the-job training in telecommunications field work to student interns or trainees. 12. Perform work of Combination Technician as needed. 13. Perform call out and/or standby work which involves responding and restoring services for emergency calls, responsible for being on the job at short notice to repair damaged cables until service is restored 14. Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or required.

Qualification Requirements: Education: High school graduate or equivalent required; Technical school graduate desirable. Work Experience: Five years of experience in telephone installation and repair and Outside Plant operations, to include cable (copper and fiber optic) splicing and repair. Three years of this experience must be in construction with Outside Plant Telecom Engineering.
