Job Title: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Job Duties: Financial Reporting Prepare, analyze & evaluate financial statements & other financial reports of the company and assess accuracy and completeness of accounting records in accordance with accounting standards. Submit these financial reports to the management monthly. Perform financial analysis of financial statements to support management in making sound financial decisions. Examine accounting transactions prepared by assistants for accuracy & approval, including propriety of accounting treatment. Report discrepancies or appropriateness of recordings. Perform periodic audit of financial records. Evaluate effectiveness of system of accounting controls & recommend for its improvement. Lead the monthly book closing process by providing guidance and direction to the team. Coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits of financial statements of the main company and an affiliated company. Assist the external auditors during physical inventories, prepare financial schedules required by external auditors, facilitate examination of financial records by the external auditors. Budgeting / Financial Analysis Analyze organizations revenues, liabilities, credit conditions & other financial indicators to forecast its short and long-term cash flow position. Provide Quarterly Budget vs. Actual Reports with an explanation of variances. Review & understand the economic trend in related industry. Update forecasts throughout the year & ensure that budget vs actuals are closely monitored. Ensure that reasonable pricing and costing is applied to each product & job. Identify & raise the areas where improvement is needed to either gain efficiencies or strengthen processes. Negotiate and obtain finance for major projects & major assets acquisitions. Internal Control Assist in the design and implementation of efficient & effective controls in all departments across within the organization. Ensure that the organizations internal control is conducted accurately, ethically, consistently, & according to relevant regulations, laws, & standard. Ensure that procedures are documented, company policies are updated & internal controls integrity is maintained. Update & validate that documentation of the control are kept current. Facilitate requests between the management & the external audit team. Ensure that financial controls and investment accounting policies & procedures are maintained, & enhanced where necessary and appropriate. Audit time entries, process special checks, file unemployment forms, process new hire tax paperwork, & create and run reports as needed. Taxation Ensure that quarterly & annual filings such as W-3SS, W-2S, and Quarterly Withholding Tax Returns are done on a timely basis by the Accountants in-charged. Assist with tax audits by capturing, analyzing and providing requested audit supporting documentation as needed. Ensure the accuracy of tax general ledger accounts and propose journal entries as necessary to record accruals or adjustments. Interface with accounting departments at various affiliates for information needed to prepare tax returns. Respond to various inquiries from IRS and state Department of Revenues as needed. Monitor federal and CNMI tax law changes and consequences. Other Tasks Research and develop strategies to better position the organization from an investment and reporting perspective.
