Job Duties: Summary of duties: Operate or tend sewing machines to join, reinforce, decorate, or perform related sewing operations in the manufacture of non-garment products, such as upholstery, draperies, linens, etc. Specific Tasks: •Folds or fits together materials, such as cloth, foam rubber, or leather, to prepare for machine sewing; •Fit, install, and secure materials on frames, using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement, or staples; •Read work orders, and apply knowledge and experience with materials to determine types and amounts of materials required to cover work pieces; •Draw cutting lines on material following patterns, templates, sketches, or blueprint, using chalk, pencils, paint, or other methods; •Removes finished materials from sewing machine; •Cuts materials, according to specifications, or cuts excess material or thread from finished product, using blade, or scissors; •Examines and measures finished articles to verify conformance to standards, using ruler; Positions and marks patterns on materials to prepare for sewing; •Replaces needles, sands rough areas of needles with sandpaper, and cleans and oils sewing machines to maintain equipment; •Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
High School Diploma Required? Yes
Qualification Requirements: Must have 2 years work experience as Seamer and/or Upholsterer; Demonstrate ability in operating hand tools and power tools when necessary; Demonstrate ability in operating sewing machine to perform duties; Experience working for a US Carrier as defined under Title 14 Part 119 of the US Code of Federal Regulations required.
