Job Duties: | Job Summary: The Senior Systems Administrator - IT is responsible for providing day-to-day high-level server, networking administration, technical support, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT infrastructure for IT&E. The employee will maintain systems that support internal operations such as B/OSS, Prepaid Systems, short message service (SMS) systems, and Contact Center solutions. He/she will also actively engage on technical projects related to the company’s Managed IT Services offered to external customers. The Senior Systems Administrator provides technical support to workers in information processing departments; evaluates workload and capacity of computer system to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer operations; enters commands into computer to place programs in production status; writes project reports and documentation for new or modified software and hardware. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Employee will: 1. Design/architect server infrastructure to support new applications. Research available technologies, determine server capacity and availability requirements, review software requirements, and determine integration strategies with other systems. Make recommendations to the Manager of IT/Infrastructure for best implementation practices. 2. Implement new applications. Install server hardware and software. Implement clustering and failover, build interfaces to integrate with other systems, troubleshoot system issues, and perform functional and scalability tests to meet requirements. 3. Provide continuous evaluation and maintenance of the Prepaid Platform Server, Processors, Prepaid Local Area Network to maintain connectivity from the Switch to the processors to ensure that message delivery will not be negatively impacted, and user service requirements will be satisfied. 4. Support operations by analyzing problems and determining corrective actions for assigned systems and ensuring system provides users with timely, high-quality, cost-effective results. 5. Act as crisis management support during problems of complex customer or system issues. 6. Provide feedback on system usage and output. 7. Perform preventive maintenance procedures to insure the smooth operation of the system. 8. Provide on-call technical support to the user community on LAN/WAN-based applications; maintain connectivity and security access to user workstations in support of the Customer Service function. 9. Resolve complex problems and inquiries referred by customer (internal and external) regarding supported software and hardware within acceptable timeframes. 10. Develop and run report programs for MOU reports, revenue reports, and active line count; run Call Detail Report to comply with subpoena requests. 11. Supervise daily backup operations, ensuring CDR logs and history files, all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media; perform regular file archival; purge as necessary. 12. Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. 13. Follow all procedures and processes necessary to ensure the safety and integrity of organizational servers, data systems, file structures, computer operating systems and computer system software. |
