| Job Duties: | Plans, lay out, fabricates, assembles, installs and repair, sheet metal products, utilizing expertise of working characteristics of metallic and no-metallic materials, machining and layout techniques, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment. Highly accurate in measurement techniques and application in metric and english. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling and installing sheet metal products. Select gauge and typeof sheet metal, such as galvanized iron, copper steel or aluminum, or nonmetallic material, such as plastics or fiberglass, according to product specifications. Lays out and accurately marks dimension and reference lines on material, using scribers, dividers, squares, and rulers, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develope and trace patterns of products or parts. Safely Set-up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses forming rolls, and routers, to cut and bend, block and form, or straighten materials. Inspects assembles and installation in conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, such as calipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges, and micrometers. |
