Job Title: Accountant I
Job Duties: Under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the person will perform a variety of professional-level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and reports; maintaining the accuracy of KCHC's ledger and subsidiary financial systems; assists in the preparation of assigned budgets, annual audit, and year-end closing. Performs a variety of professional accounting functions; maintains the accuracy of general, revenue, and expenditure ledgers and subsidiary financial systems. Reconcile financial ledgers and records; prepare financial statements and reports, general and subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules; research and resolve discrepancies. Review and audit all accounts payable, purchase orders, cash receipts, business licenses, payroll, utility billing, and other accounting records and transactions; ensure money is posted to correct accounts and that all accounts balance. Prepare bank reconciliations and related journal entries for a variety of accounts. Assist in the development of the annual budget; assist in the review and validation of the annual budget; create a variety of spreadsheets, documents, and graphs; assist in preparing the final budget document for approval. Prepare monthly, periodic, and annual financial statements/reports and account summaries. Assist in preparation of year-end closings. Perform grant accounting work related to federal/grant funding; maintain records for audit purposes. Maintain and track fixed asset inventory records. Participate in the year-end audit; compile and prepare supporting schedules, documents, and financial reports as requested by the auditors. Prepare tax documents for filing or payment. Resolve issues in an efficient and timely manner. Provide responsible assistance to management staff; perform special projects as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma Required? Yes
Qualification Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, or related field. Plus, five (5) years of accounting/finance-related work experience. Ability to work effectively with coworkers and clients. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Comprehensive basic medical information. Computer literacy is necessary.
