Job Duties: | JOB SUMMARY: The Accountant, receiving general guidance from the School’s Finance Manager, is responsible for performing the operational functions of the School’s Accounting Office in planning, organizing, and conducting all accounting operations and the school’s administrative internal audit. The Accountant ensures timely accounting reporting to the Finance Manager. The Accountant adheres to accepted accounting principles and performs management and complex accounting duties with a high level of independence and professional discretion. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Employee will: 1.Know and uphold the established school mission, policies and procedures, and department objectives, quality assurance and safety programs and standards. 2.Perform all accounting functions, reviewing and ensuring the quality of the accounting operations and adhering to accepted accounting principles. 3.Ensure the school's accounting reports are produced in a timely manner. 4.Oversee the school's internal administrative audit process. 5.Assist the Finance Manager in the development of accounting policies, systems and procedures, and other important aspects of the Company's accounting department. 6.Manage and maintain critical and confidential aspects of the company's accounting records. 7.Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial statements and other accounting reports. 8.Coordinate and complete annual audits with external auditors. 9.Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual tax reporting, submissions, and compliances are met in timely manner. 10.Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or as requested by the Finance Manager. |

Qualification Requirements: | Must have a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree with at least 5 years progressive work experience as an Accountant. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of: A. GAAP, GAAS and professional accounting practices B. utilization of accounting and report writer software C. concepts of strategic planning and resource management 2. Skills in: A. analyzing performance results to determine methods of improving service B. preparing written reports, statistics and analyses C. use of personal computer hardware and Microsoft software programs to include Excel, Access, Outlook and Word 3. Ability to: A. communicate clearly with all levels of staff and customers, both verbally and in writing B. identify needed internal management and accounting controls and to design and implement said controls C. make logical and sound decisions in the resolution of difficult and complex situations Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1.Knowledge of: A.performance management and motivation techniques B.GAAP, GAAS and school accounting practices C.accepted management/supervisory theories and practices D.technical and working understanding of accounting and report writer software E.principles/concepts of team building, strategic planning and resource management 2.Skills in: A.analyzing performance results to determine methods of improving service B.preparing written reports, statistics and analyses C.use of personal computer hardware and Microsoft software programs to include Excel, Access, Outlook and Word 3.Ability to: A.communicate clearly, concisely and accurately with all levels of staff and customers, both verbally and in writing B.identify needed internal management and accounting controls and to design and implement said controls C.learn, maintain and advance usage skills in the job-specific aspects of various computer hardware and software D.make logical and sound decisions in the resolution of difficult and complex situations E.perform in a self-directed, hard-working, creative and forward thinking manner F.work a varied schedule including holidays and weekends, when required |
