Job Title: Soils/Materials Technician
Job Duties: Performs laboratory and field testing on soils, concrete, aggregates, bituminous mixtures, and other related materials to support engineering design and construction requirements. Performs geotechnical investigations consisting of operating soil boring equipment in order to evaluate subsurface soil conditions and collecting soil samples for laboratory testing purposes. Tests will include, but are not limited to, grain size analysis, compaction, liquid limit and plasticity index, bearing ratio, specific gravity, sand equivalent, and concrete compressive and tensile strength testing. Assists in performing infiltration tests in the soils. May travel to Rota at least 1 to 2 times per year for a minimum of 1 to 3 days per trip, and may travel to Tinian at least 2 to 3 times per month for a minimum of 1 to 3 days per trip.
High School Diploma Required? Yes
Qualification Requirements: High School Diploma (may be foreign educational equivalent); two (2) years of experience as a Soils/Materials Technician or Assistant Soils/Materials Technician; and possesses American Concrete Institute “ACI” Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade I Certification, ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 1 Certification and ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 2 Certification.

Comments: The job opportunity is a temporary, full-time position starting on January 2, 2023 and ending on January 1, 2026. The job opportunity requires the worker to travel, in an Employer provided vehicle, to Employer's project sites in all villages in the MSA of Saipan, NMI. The worker may also travel, at Employer’s expense, once or twice a year for a minimum of 1 to 3 days per trip to MSA of Rota, NMI to perform work at Employer’s project sites on Rota; and may travel, at Employer’s expense, two or three times per month for a minimum of 1 to 3 days per trip to MSA of Tinian, NMI to perform work at Employer’s project sites on Tinian. Employer will provide medical insurance for the worker. THREE-FOURTHS GUARANTEE: Worker will be offered employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays of the total period that begins with the first workday after the arrival of the workers at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ends on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. TRANSPORTATION AND SUBSISTENCE: If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the Employer will provide, reimburse, or advance payment for the worker’s transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the Employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the workers originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the Employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment.
